Springtime and Back Pain

For many of us, spring is a most wonderful time of year.  The promise of new growth in our environment is realized, feathered friends are migrating back 'home', and more daylight encourages us to be outside longer. With its many assets, there can be bodily aches and pains to accompany springtime.

Dr. Handcock, for those of you who are not familiar, is an avid golfer.  Our Thursday schedule is abbreviated so that he can take much-needed time to play.  Many of our patients also golf-others play soccer/volleyball/rugby/etc.  'Just overheard Dr. H discuss 'running' with a patient.  It seems that people who are physically active want to take good care of themselves, and chiropractic care should be an integral part of the routine.

Gardening is one of the biggest reasons people try to maintain visits to see us.  All the bending, carrying, digging, reaching....makes my back hurt thinking about it!  Anyway, keeping up is great, but sometimes you get an actual injury doing these things we love.  Instead of going to a conventional doctor to get muscle relaxers, your body will thank you if you go through chiropractic instead.  No brain fog or tummy upsets!  Be sure to describe what happened-even if you only turned your head to sneeze, then felt a pop! Our job is to get your specific needs met.  If you are injured, it may not be a 'one and done' type situation. Rest assured, Dr. Handcock is listening to what you say to enable you to return to good health asap!

Here's a little tidbit for grandparents and parents of wee ones alike: be careful picking them up!  I'm pretty sure that's the second biggest cause of injury we see here!  With summer coming up, there will be even more opportunity to be with these precious little angels.  The associated injuries are no less painful just because they were caused by someone you love!. Which reminds me of one patient who became injured by lifting his wife....not good!

Regardless of whether you come in to keep in shape or because of an injury, come see us!  Call us early on to get the best appointment for your busy schedule.

To your health!
